Frequently Asked Questions
Which type of opener should I get — belt, chain, or wall-mount?
Belt drive is the quietest and best for garages under bedrooms — our most common recommendation. Chain drive is the most affordable and very reliable but louder. Wall-mount (jackshaft) openers mount beside the door instead of overhead — great for high ceilings, storage racks, or quiet operation. We help you pick based on your garage layout and use.
Do I need battery backup on my new opener?
Texas building code requires battery backup on new opener installations, and it is genuinely useful here — Central Texas storms cause regular outages. With battery backup, the door still opens and closes normally during a power outage so you are not trapped or locked out. Most modern LiftMaster and Chamberlain models include it standard.
How long does opener installation take?
A standard opener replacement takes 2–3 hours including removal of the old unit, mounting the new motor, running the rail, programming remotes and the wall control, aligning safety sensors, and a full balance and travel test. New construction installs where no opener exists previously can take slightly longer.
What brands do you install?
We install LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and other major brands. LiftMaster is our most-installed brand — strong warranty, quiet belt-drive models, integrated battery backup, MyQ Wi-Fi, and excellent reliability in Central Texas conditions. We carry several models in stock for same-day installation in most cases.
How much does a new opener cost installed?
A new belt-drive opener installed in Cedar Park typically runs $550–$850 depending on horsepower, features, and brand. Chain-drive installs are slightly less. Wall-mount jackshaft openers run higher, generally $850–$1,200 installed. Pricing includes the opener, rail, remotes, keypad, sensors, battery backup where applicable, and full installation.
Will my new opener work with smart home apps?
Yes. Most modern openers we install include built-in Wi-Fi — LiftMaster and Chamberlain use the MyQ app, which works with Amazon Key, Google Assistant, and other smart home platforms. We set up the Wi-Fi connection, pair the app, and walk you through controlling the door from your phone before we leave.
